It is not a remote position and the employer does not promise relocation assistance.Preference will be given to Alaska residents and all GHS employees must obtain an Alaska driver's license or ID card within 30 days of hire.Job Summary:Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting with campus maintenance, facility repairs, and janitorial services for a nonprofit agency providing residential, correctional, and behavioral health services to adults in Juneau, Alaska. Work may involve physical labor and inclement weather. The ability to safely use power equipment, chemicals, hand tools and diagnostic equipment is mandatory. This position is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay.Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Starting Wage: $50,770.00 to $71,078 DOEWork Schedule: 40 hours per week Monday thru Friday with occasional evening, weekend and holiday hours for emergency repairs and snow removal as needed.Duties/Responsibilities:Performs general cleaning, sanitizing, and other janitorial duties of the buildings.Performs minor repairs and maintenance.Performs maintenance of the property/grounds such as mowing and trimming lawns and hedges and cleaning snow from walking and driving surfaces. Maintains a neat and orderly workspace.Perform maintenance and repair work of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, painting, and other building systems and facilities. Assists in examining campus for safety hazards; reports deficiencies to lead Maintenance Supervisor. Work with CWS workers as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.Is on call for facility-related emergencies when covering for the Maintenance Supervisor.Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.Detail-oriented and thorough.Ability to perform basic repairs and safely operate tools and equipment used for routine maintenance.Ability to use or learn to use snowplow and heavy equipment. Ability to keep the campus clean and orderly.Ability to interact with coworkers, clients and community vendorsin a professional, polite, and courteous manner. Willingness to learn and take instruction from the Maintenance Supervisor.Education and Experience:At least one year of work in maintenance and repair work.Must be 21 years old to be insurable by current GHS' auto insurance policy holder.High school diploma or equivalent required. Physical Requirements: Must be able to traverse the GHS campus and navigatemultiple-story buildingsto diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance.Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed.Prolonged periods standing.Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift 50 pounds at a time. Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.Must be able to pass the DOC and DHSS background checks.
