GeoTech/Core Cutter - Niblack Mine, Prince of Wales, AK
Job Summary
The GeoTech/Core Cutter position supports the Niblack Mine on the Prince of Wales Island for POWTEC, LLC. This is an entry level position performing work as a core cutter for an exploration mining site. Prior mining experience a huge plus.
The position is 12-hour shifts, Monday-Sunday, 84 hours weekly in November for approximately 6 weeks
with the possibility to extend further.
Transportation to and from site is provided from Ketchikan, Alaska. The employee is responsible for
arranging their own travel to Ketchikan, AK.
Room and board provided on a barge at the work site during the time-on period.
This is position requires successfully passing both a background and drug screening to qualify and will be
subject to any post-accident and/or reasonable suspicion testing throughout.
Some of What You Will Do
Assist geologists as needed (including geotechnical tasks: preparation and visual analysis of drill core and
recording footages)
Performing specific gravity testing
Store and label the core boxes for later access
Core cutting and preparation of sample shipments
Cleaning the equipment and area between samples
Ensuring quality control throughout the sampling process
Qualifications
Preferred one-year experience in mining, core cutting, or construction industry
High school diploma or equivalent
MSHA Underground Preferred (Mine Safety & Health Association)
Hazardous Materials training, preferred
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen
