Job Posting: Full-Time Teacher/Administrator

Do you enjoy engaging with small children? Do you believe in the

importance of early childhood education? Do you value the community

that surrounds children as they grow and learn? You may be the perfect

fit for Juneau Cooperative Preschool (JCP), and we would love to talk to

you!

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated full-time

Teacher/Administrator to join our team!

About JCP and our Philosophy:

Our goal is to create a safe, positive and accepting environment where adults and children learn

together. We believe it is enriching for families to be in the classroom learning and participating

with their children. We encourage our children to think for themselves, solve problems, ask

questions and find out what they really care about. Our preschoolers learn these skills in a

nurturing environment through dramatic play, block building, and taking time to solve problems

when they arise. They do this by investigating, planning, making mistakes, discussing their ideas

with other children and adults, hearing good stories and songs, as well as playing with paint, sand,

wood, and water, and spending time observing plants, animals, natural phenomena, and exploring

the outdoors.

JCP is a licensed childcare center that operates during the traditional school year (summers off!).

For the 2024-25 school year, we expect to offer a M-F, 9am-12pm program. This position has a lot

of flexibility outside of the set teaching times. Additional weekend hours (such as Sunday set up)

may be required from time to time. Our main goal is to find the right fit!

Responsibilities:

 Work with teaching partners to develop and implement curriculum (utilizing curriculum

from previous years) and activities to provide enriching skill development for students,

ensuring the Preschool is operating in harmony with the Cooperative Model and

Philosophies, and with the safety and growth of the children in mind.

 Create a safe and nurturing environment for our kids to learn and grow in their own unique

way.

 Develop meaningful and fulfilling relationships with student and families.

 Maintain safety and health of students.

 With the support of the Board, fulfill Administrator role by overseeing Preschool

operations and ensure all licensing requirements are fulfilled, ensuring compliance

regarding safety, emergency protocols, and Coop Policy.

 With the support of the Board and fellow teachers, fulfill other Administrator duties such

as communication with families, managing workday calendars, registration and enrollment

and grant writing when needed.

 Serve as a Liaison between staff, families, and the board.

 Supervise staff and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications:

 Must be 21 years of age or older.

 Ability to pass a background check.

 First Aid/ CPR certified (or ability to complete prior to hire).

 Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development (or related field) or teaching

certificate or 12 credits in Early Childhood Development or CDA (or progress towards

CDA, JCP may be able to request a variance if candidate is working towards CDA).

 Experience teaching, classroom management, or experience working in a childcare center.

Compensation & Benefits:

 Salary range: $25-$30/hour, depending on experience and credentials.

 Flexible hours outside of scheduled school times.

 Flexible time off, including summers.
