Help us launch a new era of place-based and play-based learning for our local littles! The Rookery is seeking a new Director, starting at 20 hours/week, who can build our programming, implement our educational vision, and reacquire our child care license. While we would love to hire someone with managerial and/or administrative experience, for the right candidate we can provide substantial professional development. This is a great position for someone with a big heart for kiddos, great ideas for educational programs, and the gumption to get things done!
Responsibilities:
For 2025 and beyond, build out Rookery programming that serves our mission statement
Manage implementation, logistics, and curriculum for Rookery programs, including working directly with children
Build and maintain relationships with families and other local organizations/entities
Handle day-to-day administration and operations
Supervise staff and volunteers
Reacquire child care license
Work with Board on fundraising, development, and grant writing work
Report on activities to Board of Directors
Desired qualifications:
Experience in education and/or child care fields
Child Development Associate credential, 12 credits in early childhood education, or willingness to obtain at the Rookery’s expense
Strong administrative, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Managerial experience
Willingness to learn and grow through this position
Positive, take-charge, can-do attitude!
Compensation
$25/hour (20hr/week maximum to start)
