Arts Education Manager
About the position:
The Arts Education Manager oversees several key educational programs and partnerships to enhance arts education
in Juneau and across Alaska. This position requires strong program management skills, ability to build partnerships,
and dedication to arts education.
Primary Responsibilities:
Artful Teaching Program Management
● Lead partnership between JAHC, Juneau School District, and University of Alaska SE to enhance
education through arts and culture integration
● Manage grant administration, including budget tracking, reporting, and evaluation
● Coordinate teaching artist residencies, workshops, and cultural programming
● Ensure program objectives and outcomes are met through regular evaluation
Artists in the Schools (AIS) Program Oversight
● Administer school mini-grant program and coordinate district-wide artist residencies, with a focus on
developing and implementing standardized artist contracts.
● Manage teaching artist roster and contracts
● Facilitate communications between artists, schools, and program stakeholders
● Complete grant reporting and program evaluations
Kennedy Center Partnership Programs
● Coordinate Partners in Education (PIE) initiative to provide professional development for teachers and
artists
● Manage Any Given Child (AGC) program, including:
○ Lead ArtBus excursions and community engagement activities
○ Facilitate leadership team meetings and maintain community partnerships
○ Represent Juneau at Kennedy Center conferences
○ Maintain program documentation and communications
Poetry Out Loud State Competition
● Oversee statewide program administration, and participant recruiting
● Support competition coordination and participant engagement, in collaboration with POL staff
● Help facilitate day-of activities surrounding the state finals in Juneau
Other Duties
● Develop and implement broad standardized contract documentation and processes for all education
programs and contractors
● Assist Executive Director with additional program grant identification, application, and management
● Collaborate with Executive Director in transforming Arts Education Programs as historic grant funding
sunsets
Qualifications:
● Strong program management and grant administration experience
● Excellent communication and partnership-building skills
● Experience in arts education or related field
● Ability to manage multiple programs, meet deadlines, and organize contracts
● Knowledge of arts integration and cultural education practices
● Grant writing and reporting experience
● Budget management experience
About the job:
● Salary range is $55,000-$60,000 annually. Employment is at-will,and is subject to a two-month review
period. Leave time of 1.5 days/month accrues after 60 days.
● We are a small shop, and at times will ask for minor support outside of regular job duties in order to
execute events and programs.
● Hours are variable, and can include weekends and some early mornings, or late evenings.
● Employment is at-will.
● Benefits include ten paid holidays and leave time accrued after two months.
● JAHC offers a Health Reimbursement Account at the rate of $100 per month for part time employees and
$200 per month for full time employees after the two month review period.
