Position: Senior Accountant

Hours: Full-time, exempt position.

The Position:

The Alaskan Brewing Senior Accountant is responsible for the review and analysis of the brewery’s general ledger and preparation of financial statements, management reports, and regulatory compliance records. This position also prepares and reviews journal entries and assures that all items associated with Treasury and Debt Management are properly recorded and maintained. The Senior Accountant works corroboratively with other departments, management, and accounting team members. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Prepare (in collaboration with other team members) and perform monthly review of General Ledger account line-item recording and review entries to assure efficiency, accuracy, and reconciliation using subsidiary and supporting ledgers, including automated and manual reporting systems.

Produce timely and accurate monthly financial statements and be prepared to present reports to management as required and called upon.

Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.

Assist with various financial projects in areas of cost accounting, tax schedule preparation and cost/benefit of various initiatives.

Become knowledgeable and support the accounting team involved with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventories, Order Entry, Purchasing and other accounting level functions as required.

Support regulatory reporting such as federal and state excise tax reports, state and local reporting and tax filing, regulatory surveys and other filings.

Working with system experts, assist in the design and improvement of automated accounting systems including the ability to effectively communicate data requirements.

Working with the Designated Accounting Department Manager, maintain and update internal controls as needed.

Actively participate in and contribute to all required audits, fiscal budgeting processes and financial projections throughout the year.

Other Accounting related duties as required

Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing.

Ability to follow and relay complex oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures.

Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.

Strong work ethic and ability to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with department staff, other co-workers, and the public.

In Manufacturing, processes and systems are constantly evolving. This position requires adaptability and being proactive to keep systems updated and progressing as IT or other requirements change.

Special Knowledge and Skills include

3-5 years minimum of accountant level experience required, depending on background and education.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.

Strong knowledge of MS Office products, Excel and accounting software required.

Data analytics skills required.

Strong preference for knowledge of NetSuite or other ERP systems.
