Middle Fork Logistics is a growing, family-owned trucking company looking for an experienced full-time heavy-duty diesel mechanic. Knowledge of the trucking industry an advantage but not necessary. This position offers regular business hours M-F, with occasional overtime and weekend availability a plus. Pay commensurate with experience.
PAY RATE:
$35 - $45 per hour (DOE)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform regular maintenance checks, routine maintenance, and preventive maintenance on trucks, machinery, and equipment.
Perform tests on specific parts and systems to ensure proper functions.
Consult with drivers and operations to collect information on mechanical issues; this may include answering service calls.
Identify, repair, and replace malfunctioning components to ensure equipment is working at full capacity.
Keep accurate written and digital records on repairs and modifications made on equipment.
Maintains a clean and safe work area; Performs duties in a safe manner; maintains awareness of others in work area.
Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS:
Excellent mechanical repair skills including experience in diesel engines.
Ability to speak and write English in order to keep accurate records.
Basic comprehension or computer systems.
Ability to work in both a team and independent setting.
Strong analytical skills in order to identify problems audibly, visually, or with a computer.
Ability to lift 50 or more pounds.
(Optional) Experience in welding/Fabrication with proper certifications is a plus.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma, GED, or other equivalent. Technical degree in related field preferred but not required.
Proven experience as a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic.
Valid driver’s license.
(Optional) Familiarity with Cummins
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Most work will be done in a well-ventilated workshop; however, service calls may require work in various environments both inside and outside. This includes all weather conditions.
Full range of upper and lower body is required.
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, stretching, and occasional sitting.
Must supply personal tools and storage.
