We are seeking a reliable and skilled Lead Mechanic to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and servicing of our vehicle and equipment fleet in Southwest Alaska.
This includes coordinating fleet repairs, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance and reliability during our busy peak season. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical expertise, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to high-quality service.
Knowledge of computers and office management software is preferred. This full-time, year-round position offers the opportunity to grow within the company.
Key Responsibilities
Assess daily, weekly, and monthly fleet management needs
Plan, lead, and oversee routine fleet maintenance activities
Coordinate fleet maintenance and repair schedules with Operations Manager
Perform fleet maintenance, mechanical inspections, and routine service checks
Follow and execute our preventative maintenance plan
Manage and maintain the maintenance record for the fleet
Oversee procurement and inventory management of tools, supplies, and parts.
Minimum Requirements
Valid Driver's License
Clean driving record
Ability to drive a manual transmission
Strong electronic diagnostic and repair
Experience with management of vehicles and equipment
Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair vehicles and equipment
Proficient in using OBD-II scanners and diagnostic tools
Ability to perform maintenance in both shop and field settings
Metal fabrication experience including cutting, grinding, welding processes
Willingness to work extended hours during peak season: May - August
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Positive attitude and strong decision-making abilities
Strong communication skills
Availability to be on call for emergency situations
Preferred Skills
ASE Certification
Active Class B CDL
Hazmat Certificate
Office management software experience including Google or Microsoft
Aircraft refueling equipment operations, repairs, and maintenance
Autobody experience
Experience repairing or maintaining Ford, Kia, Bobcat, or Genie brands
Vintage vehicle restoration experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50-75 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, and kneel for extended periods of time
Ability to work in a shop environment
Willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
English language proficiency
