Job Title: Fuel & Tank Farm Operator

Department: Fuel Division

Location: Kaktovik, AK

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5 PM, 1 Hour Lunch, Plus On-Call Call Outs as Needed

Pay: $32.00-$42.00/Hour DOE

Job Summary: The Tank Farm and Fuel Delivery Operator is responsible for facilitating fuel transfers, ensuring the security of the tank farm and dispensing facilities, delivering fuel to residential and borough facilities, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and borough regulations. This role requires meticulous attention to detail in recording and reporting all fuel-related activities and performing preventative maintenance and inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

Tank Farm Operations:

Facilitate all fuel transfers in and out of the tank farm.

Prepare and submit detailed lists describing the type and quantity of hazardous materials and substances used in the Tank Farm and Dispensing Station.

Secure tank farm and dispensing facilities.

Fuel Delivery Operations:

Deliver residential fuel sales, ensuring adherence to delivery fee policies.

Record quantity disbursement, fuel sales, and receipt of delivery fees.

Inspect residential tanks before dispensing fuel to ensure functionality and inform residents of any deficiencies.

Provide fuel delivery as requested in an emergency to avoid interruptions in basic utility services. This includes deliveries to facilities, homes, and equipment.

Reporting:

Maintain Tank Farm and Fuel Truck Inspection records (daily, weekly, and monthly).

Keep detailed maintenance and repair records.

Submit dewatering reports.

Report fuel leaks or spills within the Tank Farm, Dispensing Station, or during fuel truck delivery.

Preventative Maintenance and Inspections:

Grease system valves equipped with “zerk” fittings quarterly.

Inspect all system valves, pipelines, tanks, and equipment for evidence of leaks, wear, or damage.

Conduct visual walk-through inspections of the facility at the start of daily operations.

Repair minor leaks and weeps as necessary.

Discharge water from secondary containment during summer months.

Qualifications:

CDL with X Endorsement

Proven experience in tank farm operations, fuel delivery or a similar role.

Familiarity with hazardous materials and safety protocols.

Strong organizational and reporting skills.

Ability to operate under pressure and respond to emergencies effectively.

Required certifications in Hazwoper, First Aid, CPR, and other relevant areas.
