Alaska Resources & Environmental Services, an environmental consulting firm located in Fairbanks, Alaska, has job openings for an Environmental Specialist and Environmental Technician.

Title: Environmental Specialist

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: BS in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences, Geology, or other related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in the environmental field, including but not limited to: writing proposals and cost estimates; writing work plans, sampling and analysis plans, and health and safety plans; planning, overseeing, collecting and managing soil/water/groundwater samples; reviewing, validating, compiling and interpreting laboratory analytical results; report writing; communicating with state and federal regulators, as well as commercial, private, federal, and municipal clients. Must be knowledgeable of and experienced with state regulations pertaining to spill response, site characterization, monitoring, and remediation activities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Job duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following: writing and implementing work plans for spill responses, Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, site characterizations, site monitoring, and remediation activities; performing data validation and interpretation into site reports; communicating between clients and regulators; overseeing contaminated sites and spill response programs. Must be able to lift 40 pounds, stand and/or walk for 10 hours a day, work outdoors in all weather conditions, pass a background check for military base access, and possess a valid driver's license. Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends and travel occasionally. Must have own transportation. Must currently possess OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or valid refresher) or be able to obtain prior to employment. This position has both full-time and seasonal (April – September) openings currently available.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: Currently enrolled in or completed a BS in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences, Geology, or other related field. Previous experience in fieldwork desired.
