HOUSING PROGRAM SPECIALIST III

Position Summary: Responsible for the administration of various subsidized Housing Choice Voucher/Section8 assistance programs. Provides housing program related guidance to other staff if needed. Performs administrative office duties as assigned by position supervisor.

Reports to: Area Housing Program Specialist IV

Overview:

Serves as sole Housing Program Specialist for the Homer office. Manages case load and overall office administration with little or no supervision.

Duties:

Manages a case load organizing data and files and pulls/analyzes reports.

Provides front line customer service, interviews applicants and answers inquiries on program and vendor issues.

Uses AHFC vehicle for purposes of conducting inspections.

Responsible for expense reconciliation associated with the position.

Provides guidance and training to staff on program rules, procedures and policies.

Inspects units for program compliance.

Follows safety protocols.

Other job duties as assigned by the position supervisor.

Skills and Abilities:

Possesses professional communication and interviewing skills.

Knows customer service concepts and applies them.

Correctly applies business English and math solving detailed income and benefit determinations.

Effectively uses Microsoft programs, email applications and operation of office equipment.

Is proficient in data entry and posting of housing assistance payments using the agency’s current computer programs.

Handles the office operating budget, reconciles charges and makes budget revisions as needed.

Researches, comprehends and applies HUD and agency policies.

Networking with other social service agencies and vendors.

Attends informal hearings as needed.

Effectively conveys information and or policy to the public both orally and in writing.

Applies and follows position and office related safety protocols.

Uses critical thinking to solve problems.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

3+ years of office experience including customer service.

Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office and basic office equipment.

Valid Alaska driver’s license with proof of good driving record.

This is a level 15 position with an annual salary of 50,300.58 (26 pay periods). Excellent benefits package.
