Metal Building Erector - Red Dog Mine, AK - RotationalDescriptionSummaryThe Metal Building Erector is responsible for the remodel of metal building structures, siding, roofing, and trim replacement. This position also handles roofing metal replacement, engineer designated replacement of structural members on wall lines and roof structure. Layout/fabrication of girts, purlins, clips and other structural pieces as required for a complete assembly of metal building.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Demo, fabricate and install metal structures. Purlins, Girts, clips, and fabricated pieces. Setting steel. Weld pieces as needed.

Demo, layout and install roofing and siding sheet metal including trim work using washer screws.

Layout and fabricate structure and sheet metal. Must be detailed in layout and install of finished product.

Operate manlifts, scissor lifts and off road extend-a-boom forklifts.

Read and interpret building designs and schematics to determine what type of support is required.

Prepare materials and calibrate machinery prior to performing building erection work.

Work closely with crane operators and coworkers to hoist and position metal components into place.

Bolt and weld metal works together as needed and ensure that all sections are leveled properly.

Perform steelworks dismantling for renovation or pull-down purposes.

Able to properly assemble fall restraint and fall protection systems adhering to OSHA and MSHA’s policy’s and procedures.

Roofing work using engineered scaffold system and crane work. Operate at heights up to 130 ft. off the ground.

Use hand signals/operate radio to assist with rigging and crane work.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent required or ten (10) years related experience will be considered.

Minimum six (6) months related experience required.

Previous welding experience preferred.

Must have good communication skillset and willingness to be a team player.

Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy preferred.
