Job Description: The day habilitation employee is responsible for providing a safe, caring, respectful environment while teaching social and life skills services to participants. Staff will provide recreation services in the community through activities that encourage friendships, independence, self-determination, and positive choice making for all clients.
Qualifications/Requirements:
H.S Diploma/GED Certification
Minimum one-year experience/or supervisory team approval
Valid Driver’s License/Insurance that is at or exceeds the State of Alaska minimum insurance limits that is $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident bodily injury and $50,000 property damage/Use of personal vehicle
Background Check/Fingerprinting
First Aide/CPR within 30 days of hire
Must be at least 18 years-old
Essential Job Functions:
Ability to understand the needs and goals of recipients as written in the plan of care (POC)
Encourages and respects participant’s choice making skills
Assists in planning and implementation in activities in recreation/leisure, community interactions, life skills, social skills, safety skills, and other areas as directed by the POC
Ability to read written instructions and write legible entries in client records
Maintains a safe environment, including being familiar with participants and skilled in handling emergencies
Daily case note documentation (mandatory)
Provides direct care assistance with personal hygiene and other self-care needs
Ability to communicate with their supervisor and can work independently and as a Team Member
Transports clients safely in personal vehicle or on public transportation
Attends required staff meetings and trainings
