Alaskan Tour Guide - Seasonal Position
June 2021 to mid-Sept 2021
This position requires exceptional customer service skills and the ability for entertaining and engaging with people from diverse backgrounds. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for creating memorable Alaska experiences for visitors to our state. Alaska resident with extended residency is highly preferred as well as locally based Wasilla resident preferred.
We require an enthusiastic, energetic and entertaining personality to join our team of guides in presenting our personalized small group day tours in Southcentral and parts of Interior Alaska. Must be able to work independently, long days, flexible schedules and you will be required to work weekends as needed. Must be able to be away from home for extended periods during the touring season.
Locations traveled: Anchorage, Palmer, Wasilla, Seward, Homer, Talkeetna, Denali, Fairbanks
Home Office: Wasilla, Alaska
Vehicle Type: Small Coach, 14 passenger and less ,with trailer in tow - DOT regulated
Passengers per Tour: 2-13 per coach
Tour lengths: 7 to 10 days
Season of Operations: June, 2021 to September 15, 2021
Job Description
·Provide exceptional customer service to people of all ages, nationality and religious or political beliefs.
·Drive tour vehicle along specified route
·Provide informative and interesting narration
·Attend to enquiries and requests from customers
·Brief passengers ahead of schedule for daily preparation
·Refuel and check vehicle at specified points
. Maintain transportation logs as required.
·Handle check in details for lodgings, activities and attractions
·Assist customers with baggage handling
. Be able to lead short walks and hikes for able clients
. Be able to assist and serve clients during picnic events
Person Specification
·Knowledgeable Alaska resident.
Palmer-Wasilla resident highly preferred
·Ability to follow directions with attention to detail
. Pleasant manner and ability to relate well to people of all ages
·Neat presentation with no excessive tattoos or facial piercings
·Outgoing personality
·Strong public speaking ability
·Able to work effectively with different groups of people even under stressful and time sensitive conditions.
·Naturalist training or similar knowledge preferred
·Previous experience in travel industry preferred
·Previous experience in dealing with groups of people preferred
·Sound driving skills and clean driving record
. Background check required
Qualifications Required
·Must be at least 23 years of age and possess a Valid Drivers license
CDL with passenger endorsement is preferred but not mandatory.
·Must be able to provide a clean MotorVehicleReport.
· Must be able to pass a UA Drug Test
·Must have a valid DOT medical card, and be able to pass a DOT Physical and lift baggage weighing up to 50 lbs.
. Must be able to work flexible schedule through the full season of operations, including weekends.
. Must be able to travel overnight away from home for multiple nights.

Compensation
$225 day
Lodging paid when overnighting away from home office.
