We are searching for an experienced Fleet & Facilities Manager at our Palmer HQ facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Fleet and Facilities Manager will be responsible for overall direction and management of the Fleet and Facilities Division. These responsibilities include the lease, construction, modification, operation, repair, maintenance and preparation or review of engineering and design specifications for Association owned or leased buildings and facilities. Responsibilities also include safety, environmental issues, all ac power systems, access and security systems, fire prevention systems, environmental control systems, contract services, special projects and facility records. This position is also responsible for the fleet replacement plan, assisting in the procurement, operation, maintenance and repair, and disposition of the Association vehicles, work equipment and generators. This position also provides consultation to other Association work groups.

SPECIFIC TASK DESCRIPTION

Prepares and coordinates preparation of designs and specifications for proposed new facilities, additions to existing facilities, and remodels of existing facilities for the Association’s facility requirements.

Directs designs, acquisitions, utilization, maintenance and disposal of Association vehicle/equipment fleet and generators.

Supervises staff including conducting performance evaluations, hiring, promotions, discipline and assignment of subordinates responsibilities, training and communications.

Prepares and manages department budgets (Fleet and Facilities) including small capital expenditures. Prepares, manages and completes the land and buildings capital budget projects. Responsible for projecting budgetary forecasts for fleet and facilities.

Initiates, administers and oversees contractors and contract services for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and security of the Association facilities, including utility services and all related facility service functions.

Directs the activities of the facility section to provide a safe, comfortable and effective working environment for the Association employees, customers and equipment.

Provide technical knowledge for the performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and operational activities for the Association’s owned and leased facilities.

Administers and oversees special projects requiring design, planning, construction, alterations or modifications for Association owned or leased facilities.

Directs the Associations electrical requirements including maintenance of existing, additions to existing and new services. Employs or contracts an electrical administrator to perform this function.

Keeps informed of new products, procedures, trends, codes (Federal, State and Local), regulations and requirements as they relate to the Association’s Fleet/Facilities, civil, electrical, mechanical and environmental needs.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested and in all work activities seeks to provide our customers with high quality products and services with the minimum effective level of resource expenditure.

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent is preferred. Preferred candidate will have ten years of increasingly responsible experience in progressively responsible engineering and maintenance positions with at least five years of supervisory and administrative experience. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated leadership skills to effectively supervise a diverse group of people. A mix of design, project management, operations, facility maintenance, repair of vehicles, equipment and generators also desirable. Should have working knowledge of modern office procedures, methods and equipment.

SUPERVISION:

Manages and supervises an employee group of up to ten (10). Responsible to orient and train employees, schedule, assign, check and maintain daily work flow, recommend hiring, disciplining and change of status of employees, carries out personnel decisions and initiates personnel actions.

EFFECT OF ERROR:

Errors in the employee’s normal work activity may put the employer at substantial risk. Most errors can be substantially corrected within one year after identification. Correction may require a high level of disruption of normal resource allocation in other departments as well as their own.
