We are searching for an experienced Warehouseman (Seasonal) at our Palmer Plant Bldg facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Temporary Warehouse Supervisor performs general warehouse, materials handling, distribution, inventory control and security activities as required to support MTA’s internal and external customers.

Illustrative Tasks:

The Warehouse Person will conduct some or all of the following tasks:

Receive shipments: Inspect for damage prior to acceptance of shipments from carrier; coordinate verification of content and quantity of orders with appropriate individuals throughout the company; enter receipt transactions into automated distribution system; distribute automated receipt transaction data to MTA employees as required; print system generated documentation of receipt and location of storage; store materials in appropriate location.

Working with internal and external customers, provide services as required to fill order requests. Record transactions using automated distribution system.

Prepare and package materials for shipment, including returns and repairs transactions. Assist Buyer’s in resolution of OS&D (over, short and damaged) items, and warranty claims, as the coordinator of RMAs (Return Merchandise Authorizations) with vendors from start to resolution, in way that minimizes loss for MTA. All activities are recorded using the appropriate transaction types in the automated distribution system.

Conduct manual overrides as necessary to record transactions and safeguard MTA assets in the event of automated system failures.

At all times support MTA inventory control, record keeping and transaction maintenance policies. Responsible for accurate daily inventory counts and inventory record-keeping. Responsible for reporting related breaches of internal control and/or undocumented discrepancies of MTA property to appropriate company authority.

Responsible for maintaining in good working order, all MTA materials and equipment located in facilities designated as under Sourcing & Logistics Section authority.

Performs necessary housekeeping and maintenance duties in the warehouse, yard and other designated facilities as required to assure a neat, orderly, safe and efficient business environment.

Conduct work activities in accordance with stated policies, work rules and section procedures. In all ways, seek opportunities to reduce costs and minimize expenditure of MTA resources, while maximizing the level of service to customers.

Perform pick-up and delivery of MTA property as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

Broad knowledge of MTA activities and industry standards particularly as they relate to materials handling, inventory and distribution functions.

Knowledge of state code and other safety standards as set by the MTA, OSHA and other regulatory entities. Ability to safely perform all work duties in such a manner so as not to endanger fellow employees, customers, or the general public.

Working knowledge of automated warehousing, inventorying and integrated distribution systems.

Ability to use good judgment in unexpected situations, and work independently with good results.

Ability to work under pressure with multiple task demands, and resolve challenging expectations from internal and external customers in a positive manner.

Ability to interact with internal and external customers in a courteous, discrete, and respectful manner.

Working knowledge of desktop computers.

Required Qualifications:

Valid Alaska Driver's License, Class “A” CDL, or the ability to get one within one hundred twenty (120) days of being hired.

Ability to operate forklift of up to 16,000 pounds as demonstrated by test. Must hold current forklift certification or pass appropriate testing as mandated by federal regulations. Testing must be successfully completed within two (2) weeks of hire date.

Lift and carry seventy (70) pounds for a distance of fifty (50) feet.

Minimum of one (1) year experience conducting inventory and materials handling transactions in an automated integrated distribution environment.

Acceptable attendance record, with no pending disciplinary actions.

Working knowledge of personal computers.
