JOB TITLE: General Mechanic/Expediter

SUPERVISORS: Gabriel Dobson & David Sandvik

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Oversee and maintain the Coho Contractors Equipment and Materials Yard. Maintain and repair equipment as needed. Expedite when required.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Knowledge of construction materials (material, boxes, hand tools & operating a forklift) is required. (Experience in construction setting preferred)

Contact vendors, place orders, verify supplies, manage supply requisition, and communicate with suppliers to determine expected delivery dates and inform Project Managers of potential delays.

Assist with equipment & material check-outs.

Must be able to work outdoors subject to inclement weather (heat/cold) year-round.

Ability to use basic tools.

Able to stand for long periods of time, walk, push, pull, climb and be able to move/lift 75 pounds regularly, without assistance.

Assist in the loading of trucks.

Must be able to communicate effectively with others.

Assumes other duties as assigned.

Verifies that equipment is in good mechanical and safe operating condition upon being taken out or being returned.

Be able to load and unload material with the use of a forklift in a safe and timely manner.

Get materials out and ready to be delivered to the jobsite.

Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record for insurance purposes. Class B CDL is preferred.

Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues.

Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and construction equipment and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions.

Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts.

Repairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated parts.

Conducting field visits in case of an emergency or sudden breakdown.

Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance.

Completing oil changes and brake checks.

Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.

Keep the shop and yard organized.

Plow snow when necessary.

Maintain accurate maintenance records for all equipment and share that information with the office as it is recorded.

Maintain daily work reports.

Deliver shipments in a safe and timely manner.

No drugs or alcohol will be tolerated.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Be able to follow and interpret directions as given by the supervisor.

Have prior experience working on and repairing diesel equipment.

Have experience operating skid steers, forklifts, and other equipment as required.

Class B CDL preferred.
