Massage Therapist Duties and Responsibilities
A massage therapist is responsible for treating clients through soft tissue manipulation while maintaining a safe and relaxing experience. The therapist should be good at perceiving client wishes and needs through spoken language, body language, other cues and modifying treatments accordingly. The therapist will report to the manager of the business. You will perform massages in a manner that prevents injuries to your wrists and other parts of your body.
Here are some typical duties and responsibilities of a massage therapist:
Provide 30-120 minutes massages to clients via appointments
Guide clients through service offerings and determine which massages would benefit them most
Take detailed client history and note any health conditions
Evaluate clients to determine painful or stressed areas of the body
Advise clients on stretching, strengthening or relaxation methods
Suggest future massage appointments and regime to clients
Listen to clients during appointments and adjust technique as desired
Ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organized spa facility
Setting up spa and workstations, and ensuring cleanliness and tidiness throughout the shift
Assisting with keeping linens tidy and replacing them between sessions
Sterilizing equipment after each session
Accompanying guests to and from treatment rooms
Consulting with clients to identify appropriate massage services
Maintaining records and filing documentation
Complying with all applicable standards, rules, and regulations
Massage Therapist Skills and Qualifications
The required and preferred skills of a massage therapist include previous work experience, technical skills, soft skills, and personality traits. Preferred candidates are friendly, guest-oriented, and dexterous.

Must hold current massage therapy certification and license
Experience working in a spa
