Alaska Bead Company—Lead Sales Clerk (Anchorage)
Hours: Full-Time, permanent. Hours scheduled are Monday-Friday. Must be available to work the occasional Saturday in exchange for another day off.
Employee Job Duties:
Greet customers and assist with purchases and questions.
Demonstrate basic jewelry making techniques to customers as required.
Ensure the overall appearance of the store is welcoming and inspiring.
Motivate sales personnel to do their best by setting good examples regarding sales efforts and keeping a positive attitude among customers and staff members.
Perform data entry on the computer, as needed.
Open and close the store as needed.
Assist with the receipt, processing, and shipping of mail orders.
Complete cycle counting activities as directed.
Print and process backorder report daily.
Discreetly watch customers and perform store security procedures, using judgement to deter shoplifting.
Ensure cleanliness of classroom area, setting up for classes as applicable.
Assist management with staging of new product and class samples.
Monitor sales floor supply and form quantities, requesting restocking supplies as needed.
Vacuum, dust, or clean store areas and fixtures as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have 2 years minimum retail store experience, preferably in a leadership role, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience working with the public.
Basic knowledge and skill in making beaded jewelry, and/or proficiency in another “Crafty” hobby (e.g., Quilting, Knitting, etc.) a plus.
Must possess a high level of interest in beading.
Must have high attention to detail.
Must be able to perform basic math skills.
Must have a positive attitude and enjoy working with the public.
Wage and Benefits:
1. Wage $16.00/hour. To increase to $17.00/hour on July 1st.
2. Longevity Bonus Paid on Anniversary of each year worked.
3. 80 hours accrued vacation and 40 hours accrued PTO per year.

Alaska Bead Company is a Retail Bead company that has a storefront in mid-town Anchorage that has offered beads, findings, tools, beading classes, and beading supplies for the jewelry making and hobbyist community for 30 years.
