We are offering a great employment opportunity now. NeighborWorks Alaska is looking for a Maintenance Technician I (Apprentice). The Maintenance Technician is the core of the resident experience. Not only are they troubleshooting and solving various maintenance issues, but they are also going into the homes of our residents. This is a huge responsibility, and we value the level of customer care it takes to do this well. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting in the upkeep and maintenance of the NeighborWorks community. The Maintenance Technician is very motivated to find solutions to complex issues and has an eye for detail. Most of all, Maintenance Technicians enjoy the work they do and continuously help create the resident experience
Some of what you’ll learn to do
⋆Assist in the preparation of apartments for occupancy.
⋆Respond to service requests.
⋆Performs maintenance and repairs on electrical, plumbing as well as small and large appliances.
⋆Some carpentry work as needed.
⋆Interior and exterior painting as needed.
⋆Provide customer service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
⋆The willingness to learn new skills and take direction.
Must live within the City of Anchorage in order to be able to service our on-call shifts.
⋆Must possess current driver’s license and vehicle insurance, clean criminal record, and DMV report.
⋆High School or equivalent diploma.
⋆Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
⋆Must be able to walk frequently; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
⋆Must possess a positive attitude, exceptional interpersonal skills. ⋆Has excellent problem solving skills.
⋆Demonstrates strong verbal communication skills.
⋆Demonstrates strong customer service skills.
⋆Ability to work with diverse cultures and people of many ethnic and social backgrounds.
⋆Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
⋆ Experience in apartment maintenance or related field preferred.
⋆ Experience working in Plumbing, Electrical or Drywall/Painting preferred.
