Human Resources Administrative Assistant – The Human Resources (HR) Administrative Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of Knik Tribe’s human resources department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resources files, records, and documentation.
Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior level HR staff or management.
Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resources files and records.
Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
Provides clerical support to the HR department.
Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, workers compensation, and retirement plan providers.
Conducts background checks and employee eligibility verification.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, tribal, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization wide meetings, and annual events.
Provide support to tribal members during the enrollment process.
Assist with Council Elections.
Answer and direct phone calls.
Perform all related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
1 year experience as Administrative Assistant or similar, required.
Must pass a state and federal background check in compliance with the 1990 Indian Child Protection Act.

Supervisor: Human Resources Manager
Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday.
Salary: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour DOE/E. Plus full benefits: Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid leave and holidays, and retirement plan with matching contributions.
