Financial Counselor, OPA/Anchorage, FT

Orthopedic Physicians Alaska seeks a highly skilled, dedicated and professional Financial Counselor to join our rapidly growing and dynamic team. You will receive a $500 SIGNING BONUS after completion of 90 days of full-time employment in this position.

Schedule: Monday through Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm

Representative duties

Provide outstanding customer service to all patients

Review guarantor balances and discuss payment and financial hardship options with patients

Answer patient calls regarding account questions, concerns or complaints

Answer insurance and billing questions for patients and staff

Contact patients regarding current balances prior to appointments

Obtain and process payments made by phone and payments made in person

Review accounts for follow up action needed

Knowledge and skill requirements

Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding

Basic collection experience

Knowledge of billing procedures

Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations

Knowledge of primary and secondary coordination of insurance benefits

Able to understand and explain EOBs

Able to work in an integrated team that includes claims processing, payment posting, collections and pre-certification

Required qualifications

One (1) year of medical office experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred (in addition to required) qualifications

One (1) year financial counseling in an orthopedic office
