Job Title: Caregiver

Location: Sanctuary II ALH, Anchorage, AK

Reports To: Administrator

Job Summary:

The Caregiver at Sanctuary II ALH provides compassionate care and support to residents with mental or developmental disabilities. This role includes assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) and ensuring residents' safety, comfort, and well-being. We are looking for a patient, empathetic, and dedicated individual committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Personal Care:

Assist residents with ADLs such as walking, dressing, eating, bathing, toileting, and transferring between bed, chair, shower chair, and wheelchair.

Monitor and report changes in residents' physical and emotional condition.

2. Activities and Engagement:

Lead and engage residents in activities and games to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.

Provide companionship and socialization.

3. Medication Management:

Supervise self-administration of medications and document administration accurately.

Monitor and report any adverse reactions or side effects to medical personnel.

4. Nutrition and Hydration:

Assist with meal preparation, serving, and feeding as needed.

Ensure residents receive adequate nutrition and hydration, following dietary restrictions or preferences.

5. Environment Maintenance:

Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents.

Perform light housekeeping duties such as making beds, cleaning rooms, and laundering residents' clothing.

6. Individualized Care:

Adapt services to meet the needs of each resident and follow individual care plans.

Collaborate with the team to complete tasks and provide holistic care.

7. Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided, including daily logs, incident reports, and communication with medical professionals.

Communicate effectively with team members, residents' families, and healthcare providers.

8. Compliance and Safety:

Follow all facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Participate in training and continuing education to stay current with best practices and industry standards.

Report any safety hazards, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate personnel immediately.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting and moving residents.

Work Environment:

Assisted living facility setting.

Shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and overnight shifts as needed.

Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, and assisting residents.

Compensation:

Pay starts at $20 per hour.
