Looking for an adventurous person or couple to man the Safety Roadhouse for the 2024 summer season, May 25th to Sept 2nd. The Safety Roadhouse is famous for being the last checkpoint of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. It is located 21 miles east of Nome, Alaska via the Nome-Council Hwy. It is self-contained with a generator for electricity and trucked water. Basic duties for this unique position include living on site in provided motor home, tend bar in a rustic roadhouse setting, light food prep, janitorial, operate generator, oil and wood stoves. Must have an Alaska TAP and Food Worker cards and a valid drivers license. Must have bartending experience. Handyman skills are a plus as well as previous experience working in a remote area. Must be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision; must be trustworthy, reliable and responsible and have good people skills. Hours can be somewhat flexible but must include holidays and weekends and be consistent.
