The Palmer Alehouse is seeking to fill the position of Chef! Our fast paced kitchen requires leadership who can provide precise and concise direction, maintain composure under pressure, and consistently perform at a high level.
This position is responsible for the oversight of kitchen staff who prepare, cook, and garnish meals for guests. The Chef will provide leadership and guidance to the BOH staff and work on the line as needed. With a focus on quality and production levels, this position will assist the culinary team with its mission to exceed guest expectations related to food quality and dining experience.
Job Duties (included, but not limited to):
Performs a variety of advanced food preparation tasks.
Routinely prepares and stocks the food assembly line for service, and replenishes the service line as needed.
Accurately assembles food orders in a timely manner during all hours of service.
Observes company health, sanitation, and food quality policies.
Assists with cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen and food items.
Supervises the performance, attendance, attitudes, appearance, and conduct of the culinary team.
Must professionally communicate with all team members.
Consistently practices safe and sanitary food handling techniques.
Directs stewarding to maintain a clean, sanitary, safe work environment.
Enforces workstation and equipment safety and cleanliness.
Assists General Manager (GM) with recording inventory, product acquisition, and forecasting scheduling needs.
Assists GM with writing and posting the weekly Kitchen Schedule
Assists GM in ordering and receiving tasks to ensure a fully supplied kitchen.
Ability to work at any station in the culinary area if required.
Inspects presentation quality and expedites the line as needed.
Qualifications:
Open availability, including weekends and holidays.
At least one year of supervisory experience in a high-volume kitchen is a requirement.
Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, with working knowledge of computerized restaurant point of sales (POS) systems is preferred
Ability to communicate clearly (verbal and written) with employees and management
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and maintain an attention to detail while working in a team or group environment
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, food products, and food service equipment.
Must be able to lift over 50 lbs
Must be able to stand for an entire 8 hour shift
Must have a valid Alaska Food Handlers card (this must be obtained within 30 days of hire date, violation will result in lost hours until the proper documentation is provided)
Must be eligible to work in the United States
