Job Title: Teacher’s Aide (Temporary- Summer Position)

Reports to: Education Director

Position Summary: The Teacher’s Aide is responsible for assisting in the planning and facilitating of activities and caring for children enrolled in the Ya Ne Dah Ah School Day Camp. This position is responsible for encouraging a positive, collaborative, educational atmosphere for the children to provide them with the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological growth in a multi-age setting, regardless of race, economic background, religious preference, gender or nationality. The Teacher’s Aide participates in Ahtna language learning and cultural activities. This a temporary, Monday through Friday, 32-40 hours a week, non-benefited position.

Qualifications, Education & Experience: Preferred 6 months to 3 years of experience preferred. We are willing to provide training for CNV Tribal citizens. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain cooperative relationships and work successfully as a member of a team. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership skills. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. At least 6 months caring for children in some capacity; tutoring and working with students of varying ages. Internship, practicum, and volunteer hours will be considered in lieu of work experience. A High School Diploma/GED is required.

Certificates & License Required: A valid Alaska Driver’s License is required for this position and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s auto insurance policy. American Red Cross/ CPR Certification is required or must be willing to obtain once hired.

Drug Testing & Background Check: This position is subject to pre-hire drug testing. This position is required to complete a state and federal pre-employment background check as a condition of employment.
