Job Description
Vapor Ministries opened their Vestavia Thrift Store in October of 2018 to impact the community of Vestavia and to generate resources for Vapor Ministries. The Store Manager will drive revenue and profitability growth, targeting increased profit generation through their team of hourly associates. This individual will split their time from being hands on in the operation, to people development, community relations, and administration. This is a player/ coach role, working closely with the associates to unify their vision, mission, values and preferred culture to produce increased revenue and profitability through the sale of second-hand goods. This is a great opportunity for someone with a heart for ministry and a track record of leading people.
Key Responsibilities Include:- Drive revenue and profitability growth, targeting increased profit generation for the ministry
- Leadership and administration: provide effective leadership to 15-20 associates and administrative oversight of all key store functions including payroll, inventory, scheduling, and hiring
- Retail operations: ensure an exceptional, superior customer experience at VTS, focused on cleanliness, shopability, convenience, safety, kindness, knowledge, and customer service
- Receiving and processing operations: ensure effective and efficient receiving and processing of donated items; create an exceptional donor experience
- Work alongside Vapor Ministries leadership to regularly implement new strategies and initiatives
- Promotional support for Vapor Ministries: primary objective is to generate profit for Vapor Ministries, secondary objective is to generate awareness of Vapor Ministries in the community
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 5-7+ years of leadership experience
- Management in Retail or Hospitality setting a plus
- Prior experience in recruiting and hiring hourly employees a plus
- Alignment with Vapor Ministries and heart for mission and values
- Demonstrated capabilities as a leader, specifically in the areas of effectivedelegation, driving teamwork, giving feedback, accountability and motivation
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and make decisions based onperceived value creation
- Detail oriented with the ability to follow defined systems and processes
- Ownership mentality with the ability to approach all tasks with humility
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
