From locomotives, transit, freight cars and engines, to tracks, signals and advanced technology, we ensure customers can count on us to meet their needs.Learn how we keep our customers rolling by following us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn, and by visiting progressrail.com .Education / Training: Some college/associates degree preferred, but notrequired; may be offset by experience.Job Title:Supervisor - Welding and Fabrication ShopCity:MontgomeryKey Job Elements: Supervises daily production manufacturing of ProgressRail products; Sets up production schedule and assigns employee dailywork schedules; Verifies allocated materials and tools are available forproduction; Works with line leads to set up proper and safeprocedures for work being performed; Emphasizes goals to line leads to ensure they are beingmet; monitors output levels and adjustsaccordingly; Produces work orders for tasks to be completed; Coaches team members to meet Quality, Safety,Velocity, and Cost metrics; Complies with all PRS and OSHA safety procedures andmakes sure employees do the same; proactivelyaudits work areas and employees to continuouslyimprove safety; Issues corrective guidance and/or disciplinary actionswhen warranted/needed; Maintains team files for employee safety certifications,performance reviews and disciplinarydocumentation; Compiles weekly Open Orders reports; Performs ABBS Audits, 5S Audits, RCCA, CAPA, andcoordinates manpower and safety meetings to ensurecompliance; Performs all aspects of KRONOS timekeeping duties,such as vacation, PTO, scheduled hours worked andovertime approval; Determines overtime needs, determines priorities whenresources are limited; Caterpillar Confidential GreenCaterpillar: (Non-Confidential) Suggests changes in working conditions and use ofequipment to maximize efficiency; Participates in daily warehouse work activities, whichinclude pulling parts, packing parts, coordinatingshipments, etc.; Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.Qualifications and Experience: Requires a thorough knowledge of production shop floor,including machine shop operations, equipment,and processes, plus familiarity with materials and qualityobjectives; 3-5+ years of experience working as a lead in amachine tool environment; supervisory or managementexperience in warehousing and/or manufacturingenvironment; Supervisor and/or Manager training; ability to work ttogether in a team environment; ability to manage adiverse workforce; understanding of how to adjust buildschedules and flex personnel as neededthroughout the business day; understanding of HRpolicies and how to apply them in certain situations; Knowledge of establishing and maintaining a safe workenvironment; strong focus and prioritization onteam safety; Training in Lean Manufacturing and Auditing preferred; Ability to read precision instruments and gauges; abilityto work from blueprints and technical drawings; Strong communication skills, both written and oral; Understanding of company policies and documentationuse and storage.EEO:Equal Opportunity Employer – Race/Color/Sex/Religion/National Origin/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity/Vets/DisabilitiesBenefits:
