We need YOU!Where the chemistry happens…We are seeking a professional like you to join our Performance Chemical Division supporting our Assurance and Quality Control team at the Mcintosh, Alabama site. In this role, you will provide your technical skills to analyze and report results for special and routine samples. You wil have the ability to note any subtle and/or radical deviations from results of these sample and correct them or seek guidance in their correction. This position requires schedule flexibility to assist with vacation coverage of other team members when necessary (including some weekends and holidays) as well as some early-morning training responsibilities.As a Chemist I, You Create Chemistry By

Providing methodology, problem solving and analytical support for Production, EHS, Expert Services, Business/Customer Support, Toll Manufacturing, etc. as requested. Additionally, you will be responsible for generating project and data reports as required, as well as troubleshooting and maintaining analytical instrumentation.

Analyzing routine raw material, in-process, and finished good samples using various laboratory techniques including High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC) and other methodology such as particle size analyzer, density meter, viscometer, etc.

Providing timely and accurate documentation of all analytical data according to Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) and escalate Out-of-Spec materials to QC Lab Supervisor for data review.

Evaluating, scoping and implementing projects for the introduction or expansion of analytical chemistry methodology and instrumentation in analytical lab environment to support new or existing products, regulations and processes.

Prioritizing laboratory activities and work of less experienced chemists and analysts as needed, as well as proving knowledge base to enable development in the area of specialized methodology.

Providing expertise in areas of information & lab data management systems used in department (SAP, QSIS, BLISS, etc). You may provide in-unit analytical support to Production Units as requested.

Calibrating instruments and standardizing solutions according to documented procedures and complete required records.

Maintaining chemical standards documentation and ensure re-certification is completed and documented as needed.

Aiding in management of inventory of consumables such as HPLC columns, spare parts, reference standards, and control samples.

If you

Hold a Bachelor degree in Science, specifically in fields such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering (ChemE), Biology, or related disciplines.

Minimum 2 years applicable laboratory experience; QC laboratory in a manufacturing environment (preferred).

Possess strong working knowledge of analytical techniques and method development practices.

Have troubleshooting & Problem-solving skills and pay attention to details.

Strong English language communication skills – verbal & written.

Can work a rotating shift that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays (if required).

Instrumental Analysis in HPLC, GC, IR and/or XRF experience a plus.
