G & C Tree Service, LLC, a growing licensed and bonded company, servicing Huntsville, Madison, and surrounding areas is currently seeking an experienced individual to serve in a dual role as a Groundsman or Tree Climber as follows:
Groundsman (Duties and Responsibilities):
Haul brush and wood from tree to trailer, assist climber in the tree, perform strategic
roping and rigging, use various hand and power tools as needed, and clean up the job site.
Function as a member of the tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
Operate chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, Skid Steers, and other equipment as required.
Maintain issued personal gear, crew gear, and equipment.
Perform saw maintenance and prep (clean as required, and fill with gas and oil) before the start of each job.
Tree Climber (Duties and Responsibilities):
Safely climb trees and assess the canopy of very large trees for maintenance purposes.
Cut, trim, and reshape trees to achieve attractive shapes and to remove low-hanging branches.
Adhere to all ANSI and OSHA guidelines, to include company guidelines.
Cut branches from trees, using chainsaws, handsaws, clippers, etc.
Drag brush, chuck logs, run rope, removals, prune, clean out, rigging.
Follow all safety work procedures, ANSI pruning practices and industry standards.
Trim and prune trees away from power lines to clear right of way.
Operate stump grinders, chippers, and feed limbs and brush into the machine.
Insert jacks or drive wedges behind saws to prevent binding of saws and to start trees falling.
Other Requirements:
Be competent in chainsaw operations and maintenance.
Be competent in roping and rigging techniques, be able to set a Port-A-Wrap, and assist the climber in the tree.
Be able to perform highly repetitive and physical functions.
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive and operate a truck with trailer hitched.
Experience with various climbing techniques, chainsaws, stump grinders, woodchippers, skid steers, and other heavy machinery.
Comply with all regulatory requirements and company policies such as OSHA, MSDS and health and safety.
Must have own transportation to and from work.
Must be punctual as frequent absenteeism and slothfulness will not be tolerated, period.
Follow safety guidelines and wear all PPE as required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High School diploma preferred.
5 years or more of professional tree climbing/tree trimming/grounds man work experience.
Experience with operating a Skid Steer is a major plus.
