- Microgravity Sciences Glovebox (MSG) Facility Operator is a Payload Operations Integration Center (POIC) flight control position that manages the MSG Rack that is located onboard the International Space Station (ISS).
- The MSG Rack houses experiments that are operated to gain various types of scientific and operational knowledge.
- The MSG Facility Operator position interfaces with the Payload Investigation Leads for MSG payloads, prior to and during real-time execution, in order to understand the payload’s requirements for the MSG Rack.
- The MSG Facility Operator is responsible for maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the MSG Rack.
- The position is also responsible for configuring, monitoring and managing MSG rack operation during real-time operations to support successful experiment operations.
- The MSG Facility Operator reports to the Payload Operations Director (POD) during real-time payload operations and coordinates MSG rack-related activities with the payload developers and investigators.
- The MSG Facility Operator console position is staffed based on the requirements of the current MSG payloads operations, but standard staffing is done a 16X5 basis.
- AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Science.
- 0 – 5 years of experience working in the Aerospace industry
- Committed self-starter with a demonstrated history of strong work ethic and reliable task completion
- Familiarity with ISS Program and Payload Operations Integration Center (POIC)
- Knowledge in Enhanced HOSC Systems (EHS) command and telemetry systems
- Experience with ISS microgravity science, objectives, technologies, and trends
- Ability to apply a defined set of processes and work to a product integration milestone schedule with proactive workflow management
