Must be willing to travel. This position can and will require traveling in the SE working on numerous projects.
Experience in Utility construction, laying fiber, pipe, or conduit. Class A CDL a plus. Must be 21 years or older, have a valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record for 3 years (no accidents or DUI), pass a drug and background screen. Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting, working at heights, working in confined spaces, and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.)
Summary:
This position can be useful in learning more about utility construction prior to attaining a more skilled position such as an operator, directional driller, or locator. A laborer is responsible for the majority of physical labor performed on the job.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
1. Lift and carry tools and numerous other materials.
2. Assist excavation or backfill activities with the use of a pick and shovel.
3. Able to become proficient in the use of tools of the trade.
4. Operate jackhammer, concrete saw, and vacuum excavator.
5. Mixing of drilling fluid for horizontal drilling operations.
6. Rigging loads and signal operators.
7. Assist supervisor or operator in the layout by holding a tape, rod, plumb bob, prism, etc.
8. Greasing, fueling, and maintenance of machinery.
9. Load and unload trucks.
10. Perform general clean-up around the job site.
11. Various other duties as directed by supervisor.
