Huntsville, AL, USA | Full Time Job Title: Business Development Director Location: Huntsville, AL (Hybrid) Canvas is seeking a motivated defense/ aerospace Director of Business Development to support in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will have the ability to successfully lead a team to identify, evaluate and cultivate new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and funding streams with current and potential customers. Responsibilities:

Participate as a key member of Canvas' leadership team to develop and execute strategies for new and existing business consistent with the corporate strategic plan and oversee strategy implementation across all business units.

Conduct opportunity research and qualification, lead capture and pre-proposal activities and arrange / coordinate business development reviews supported by Corporate Leadership.

Responsible for participating in all phases of the company's proposal process in response to Request for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotes (RFQs), and unsolicited requirements.

Lead/Support and inform proposal reviews, lead proposal solutioning, support pricing analysis, and coordinate with Technical Subject Matter Experts to develop strategies and technical content.

Attend and represent the company at industry events, customer meetings, conferences, and internal meetings to promote our capabilities and strategic growth initiatives.

Develop and manage a pipeline of contract opportunities and proactively develop teams of partners to ensure a high win probability.

Identify areas of technical expertise and lead development of strategy solutions (concept briefings/white papers) where Canvas can develop and expand services.

Lead proposal teams to develop win themes, capture plans, proposal strategy, and maintain detailed capture plans and provide capture status updates at gate review.

Ensure all business is conducted using the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, and regulations.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in Proposal Management/Business Development related roles with a strong DoD background.

Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.

Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to build and maintain long-term partner and customer relationships.

Network of government decision-makers and DoD teaming partners.

Proven track record in building winning captures leading to contract awards.

Ability to operate as both an individual contributor and lead a broad, diverse team of business development colleagues and teaming partners towards shared objectives.

Collaborative and proactive mindset with the ability to orchestrate efforts in a non-hierarchical way across differing internal teams (e.g. pricing, contracts, proposal writing, technical SMEs, Business Unit Directors) and with teaming partners.

Must have strong writing and editing skills, be proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint .
