You may review, modify, or update your information by visiting and logging into the careers section of the system.Job Description:At Regions, the Mainframe Systems Engineer Lead installs and maintains mainframe operating systems ensuring the stability, performance and security of our mainframe environment while driving innovation and continuous improvement.Primary Responsibilities

Evaluates system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility

Troubleshoots and resolves complex technical issues related to mainframe systems and applications

Leads in administration, configuration, and maintaining mainframe systems, including hardware, operating systems, and software components

Maintains operational effectiveness and efficiency by monitoring, evaluating, and adjusting mainframe operating systems

Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards

Maintains installation records by documenting system configurations, procedures, and best practices

Resolves problems by determining cause; providing technical assistance to applications and other support staff

Develops and implements backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity

Serve as a subject matter expert on mainframe technologies and provide strategic guidance to senior management

Drives continuous improvement initiatives to modernize mainframe infrastructure and processes

Delivers work and provides technical guidance and support to team members

Covers on call 24x7 on a rotating basis for problem resolution and SEV1 incidents

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field and eight (8) years of mainframe infrastructure technical software and hardware analysis, programming, and installation experience

Or, a High School Diploma or GED with twelve (12) years of experience of mainframe infrastructure technical software and hardware analysis, programming, and installation

Two (2) years’ experience leading a small team within your subsystem and others

Experience in installation and support of Mainframe system products including ZOS, CICS, MQ, DB2, Storage, Automation, ZLINUX or Networking

Experience in problem determination, installation and support of mainframe products, disaster recovery experience and knowledge, and performance and tuning experience

Experience in opening, managing, solving, and closing problems with vendor support centers

Skills and Competencies

Ability to work in a team environment when applicable

Ability to work under limited guidance

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills

Strong communication and collaboration abilities

Strong understanding of mainframe hardware

Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members

This position must be within a reasonable driving distance to a Branch, Consumer Operations, or Professional Office Building with the location being for Birmingham, AL, Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, Dallas TX, Denver CO, Houston TX, Orlando FLA, Salt Lake City UT, Tampa FLA. Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. Exceptions to the geographic location requirement may be made for current Regions associates who work remotely.Position TypeFull timeCompensation DetailsPay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions.
