Job Description:
Assists welders and fitters in preparing and positioning materials for welding, including tacking and welding components. They also help with tasks like cleaning the work area, handling materials, and operating basic tools. This role requires a good understanding of welding principles and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Preparation: Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, measuring, and cutting.
Tacking: Perform tack welds to secure metal components in place for final welding.
Positioning: Assist in positioning and aligning metal components for welding.
Tool Handling: Operate hand and power tools, such as drills, grinders, and saws.
Layout and Assembly: Assist in layout and assembly of metal components, reading blueprints and schematics.
Safety: Adhere to safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment.
Cleaning: Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Material Handling: Transport and handle materials, tools, and equipment.
Basic math skills: Necessary for READING A TAPE MEASURE down to 1/16
