The Challenge
We are looking for a skilled mechanic to join our New Bern Equipment team.

In this role, you will:
⦁ Service, diagnose, repair, and rebuild mechanical systems of gas/diesel-powered automotive, heavy equipment, and power tools.
⦁ Perform mechanical work that varies in complexity depending on the mechanical system.
⦁ Perform skilled mechanic work, including preventive maintenance, brakes (air and hydraulic), steering, tires and tubes, wheels, rims, and hubs, transmission (auto and manual), charging systems, cranking systems, ignition systems, lighting systems, cooling systems, exhaust systems, fuel systems, power units, hydraulics,; air conditioning, instruments, gauges, and air intake systems.
⦁ Prepare paperwork relating to employment and equipment repairs.
⦁ Operate a fuel truck when needed.

What You Bring
⦁ A complete set of mechanic tools.
⦁ Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (If you don’t have this, still apply. You can get it within 360 days of hire through our on-the-job training program).
⦁ Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
⦁ Basic welding principles and application knowledge.
⦁ Diagnostics experience on basic electrical systems and proper wiring repair experience.
⦁ Experience in basic hydraulic system repairs, including component replacement and hoses.
⦁ Computer experience to obtain diagnostic and repair information.
⦁ Ability to repair and maintain automotive/heavy equipment and diagnose problems using diagnostic equipment.
⦁ Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
⦁ Strength to move relatively heavy objects, parts and materials to repair and maintain equipment.
⦁ Ability to safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
⦁ Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments.
⦁ A demonstrated commitment to a safe working environment by leading by example.
⦁ Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals, schematics, diagrams, and sketches.
⦁ Ability to work in emergency situations and bad weather.
⦁ Safety toe footwear.

Notes
⦁ We will conduct a pre-employment drug screening and background check for your past 3 years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.
⦁ We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.

Education & Experience
⦁ High School/GED diploma, and
⦁ 2+ years of relevant experience, or
⦁ An equivalent combination of education and experience.
