New Higher Pay: $31,688 - $55,453

The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced transportation worker to join our Traffic Services Sign team.

In this role, you will:
⦁ Install, maintain, repair, & replace ground-mounted signs included: Transit-Oriented Development (TODs) and Adopt-A-Highway signs.
⦁ Assist paint crews.
⦁ Operate and maintain hand and power tools.
⦁ Serve as a sign erector.
⦁ Haul paint supplies.
⦁ Flag traffic.
⦁ Transport inmates for work details.

What You Bring
⦁ Communications skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with crew members, other NCDOT staff, and the public.
⦁ Ability to work outside in extreme heat and cold.
⦁ Experience installing traffic controls, such as detours and lane closures.
⦁ Knowledge of sign design, layout, and fabrication.
⦁ Experience operating a sign truck with attachments.
⦁ Experience in the installation of roadway signs and Basic Incident Response.
⦁ Fitness to stand, walk, talk, and hear. Pre-employment drug testing required.
⦁ 21+ years of age.
⦁ Safety toe shoes.
⦁ A Commercial Driver’s License. (Note: If you don't have this, STILL APPLY! You can get it through our on the job training program within 360 days of hire.)

Notes
⦁ You will be subject to emergency callbacks for detours and bad weather (snow and ice removal).
⦁ You will be exposed to extreme conditions, such as ice, snow, difficult terrains, dust, extreme heat and cold, high volumes of traffic, and heavy construction equipment.
⦁ We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and a background check of your previous employers for the past 2 years for drug/alcohol abuse. We will also conduct a criminal background check so you can transport inmates to work details.

Education & Experience
⦁ High school/GED diploma, and
⦁ 3+ years of relevant experience; or
⦁ An equivalent combination of education and experience.
