As a Database Administration Specialist your primary responsibilities will include building and operating the database infrastructure used by all of Valero’s business applications.

You will manage how Valero designs, installs, and maintains the health of our SAP HANA, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle Database platforms to optimize availability, capacity, configuration, data protection, security, and performance.

You can help achieve this goal if you can :

Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and operate Valero’s databases to maintain availability, optimal performance, and compliance with Valero standards.

Proactively identify and assess any issues, perform troubleshooting, research solutions focusing on root cause.

Participate in DBA on-call rotation.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have :

A bachelor's degree (or higher) or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field required.

At least 5 years of DBA experience required.

Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server database administration.

The most competitive candidates will have :

Extensive understanding of Microsoft SQL Server database administration and a working knowledge of SAP HANA.

Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Policy Management preferred.

Experience troubleshooting and tuning queries for optimal performance preferred.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
