We have a tremendous opportunity in front of us with respect to 5G Mobile, and we are looking for a seasoned leader to bring our vision to fruition by driving successful engagements with leading Service Providers. You will work closely with the product and engineering leaders at the Telco Edge Cloud Products & HCX BU, while also partnering with other product groups at VMware, since a large part of our portfolio is applicable to 5G deployments.Service Providers have a bold vision for 5G, with a focus on software-driven, virtualized, intelligent, and open network architectures. You will work directly with these SP customers so that you can understand the specific requirements around this vision, ensuring that our products & offers are aligned with their needs. More importantly, however, you’ll help to structure, prioritize, and organize our engagements, ensuring that these powerful innovations can be brought to market in both a timely and cost-effective manner. We will only be successful if our SP customers are successful, and the core requirement of this role is to ensure that this is indeed the case.Your work will require you to engage cross functionally across key organizations in these Service Providers, including architecture, engineering, procurement, and operations. You will also need to engage with both VMware and with our key ecosystem partners. Our success is based on getting a unified approach across sales, engineering, and our business leadership, while at the same time ensuring that this approach aligns with the needs of our customers and the capabilities of our partners.Responsibilities:
You will assess the current state of the technology, the products, and our customers’ networks to assess the roadblocks and the key requirements for success
You will work cross functionally to build an operational plan to drive successful insertion of our products into the networks of our Service Provider customers. This will require you to align our roadmaps with their implementation plans and industry standardization timelines.
You will continually balance the need to help our initial customers succeed, while also working to create a replicable and scalable product portfolio
Your real time, real world feedback will ensure that our product teams build carrier class, flexible, scalable, and cost-effective capabilities, ensuring our success in the 5G market.
You will be an industry thought leader, helping to educate new & potential customers on our capabilities and expertise.
Requirements:
Deep technical & business experience both with mobile networks and with mobile service providers, which ideally spans both the RAN and the mobile core.
A sold background in the core technologies in 5G; including cloud, virtualization, orchestration, software defined networking, and automation.
A proven record of defining, developing, and driving the rollout of offers in multi-billion dollar service provider markets
A breath of experiences in product management, program management, and services
A proven track record of defining, developing, and deploying products & offers with leading service providers in previous network transitions (3G, 4G, NFV, etc.)
Excellent interpersonal, written and presentation skills with the ability to successfully communicate ideas and recommendations to all levels within an organization.
20+ years of relevant industry experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent field required. MS and/or MBA preferred
