An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced National Business Development Manager with experience in the construction trades, general contracting or industrial services industries. Knowledge of the pump and motor industries is a plus. PumpMan, based in Saddle Brook, NJ is a fast-growing, on-site pump and motor service & repair company with service centers in Southern California, Northern California, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and New York City with plans for further national expansion via acquisitions. This is an excellent opportunity for personal and income growth for goal-oriented individuals. The job can be performed from Saddle Brook, NJ or from one of our existing service centers. Work with the local service centers to create and execute business development plans to drive organic growth.

Identify and develop business development opportunities regionally and nationally to capture sales synergies across service centers.

Maintaining and developing relationships with national & key account customers.

An effective sales trainer able to develop and utilize sales tools to improve local sales effectiveness and close rates.

Proactively establishes positive working relationships with entire team, demonstrates “excellence” through positive behavior, flexibility and effective communication skills.

Manage and keep close track of Monthly Backlog/Billings to deliver accurate forecasts to management.

Recommends products and services to existing and potential customers.

Assists team through effective communication, smart business decisions and collaboration with other staff.

Follow-up on day-to-day needs and requirements of new and existing accounts.

Assist with executing promotional events for sales and marketing and sending marketing materials to new and existing accounts.

Follow-up with Account Receivables and insuring orders are given a timely release.

Assist with Credit and Collections of past due items pertaining to your regions outstanding sales.

Develop a firm knowledge of the product and services.

Develop a firm knowledge of the PumpMan strategy and philosophy for long term growth.

Assists in the training, coaching and development of others as needed.

Ensure company policies, safety policies, and work processes are followed and in compliance.

Qualifications and Skills:

5+ years’ experience serving the construction trades, general contracting or industrial services industries preferred.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science Related field or combination of education and experience in the construction/trades industry.

Strong hands on leadership experience with a proven sales track record.

Confident thinker able to make critical decisions.

Strong PC Skills and proficient with Excel and Outlook.

A fundamental understanding of pricing, job estimating, project management, forecasting, cost management and other financial tools used in help driving a successful profit center.

Required:

Proven interpersonal skills and a history of successful performance in a team environment as well as working independently.

Highly responsive to customer requirements, meaning prompt responses to queries and responding quickly to customer changes.

Strong interest in successfully interacting with customers in a sales/customer facing role.

Knowledge/awareness of CRM systems and their functions.

Commercially astute and able to understand sales strategy.

Must be flexible in dealing quickly with conflicting priorities; being a team player, willing to give additional effort when required to meet customer-based deadlines.

Prepared to be “hands-on” and eager to learn and develop professionally.

Considerable travel is required, local & overnight travel on sales calls, attend conferences or training.

Self-starter must be able to work independently and under minimal supervision.
