We are in search of a Deli Manager at our Mancelona Downtown location.

Our History

We are a small family business in Northern Michigan, beginning as a one-man operation in 1976 by the late Roland “Jack” Derrer with his five sons’ taking over in the late 80’s and early 90’s. We have been in business for over 40 years, we provide customers at our Cstore locations with fuel, food, beer, wine, liquor, and other necessities you would find at a gas station for travel. We want to do more than just provide a wide product selection and delicious food – we want to enrich our customer’s lives with customer service that demonstrates genuine warmth and hospitality. What We Need from our Deli Manager

Experience: At least one year in of kitchen management with deli management experience preferred.

What You Will Be Responsible For

Oversee the creation of delicious food and ensure the best in customer service is being provided to all customers

Maintain and adhere and create new to standard Derrer Oil recipes to ensure all cornerstone products are being created in a consistent manner.

Stay current on new techniques and trends in food creation to continue to modify the menu to best suit customers.

Ensure that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety are always maintained throughout all kitchen areas.

Estimate food consumption and appropriately purchase goods to meet that demand.

Oversee staff and develop a dynamic, highly functioning team, which includes training, conducting effective performance evaluations, coaching, performance correction, helping to onboard new hires, requesting to hire additional staff, and working with relevant internal persons to terminate existing staff.

Ensure that all health and safety certifications and requirements are current and properly posted.

Keep staff current of all key activities through effective communication.

With support of direct supervisor execute strategic plan through active engagement of all kitchen staff.

In conjunction with the Director of Operations, monitor and track deli budget; recommend and implement appropriate adjustments to maximize return on investment.

Oversee the correct cost of all invoices and communicate variances.

Monitor the inventory levels and shrink reduction; assist in rotating stock to guarantee freshness of product.

Monitor and ensure all PPE (personal protective equipment) is used every time it is needed.

In a timely, professional, and concise manner communicate department needs to General Manager.

Use fine motor skills to grasp, move, and lift items of up to 35 pounds without assistance.
