The Enterprise API Architect will design and lead approach to B2B and API services, sponsoring a service oriented architecture and Sustains the on-going transformation to a Continuous Deployment model through high-level automation. This role develops the architecture which supports product requirements, including performance, scalability, security, and manageability of the API platform. Presents and defends architecture, design, and technique choices to internal and external audiences. Work with API producing teams to evaluate designs and their associated supporting materials and marketability. Ensures consistency in implementation across Product Development teams. Proactively learns new technologies, standards, and applications; keeps current with technology developments within the industry. Is accountable for the delivery of architecture and engineering projects that fall within the scope of the API Platform. Provide product management functions over demonstrative applications which will showcase the capabilities of our APIs to both internal and external audiences.
Essential Functions: Recommends and implements methods to automate integration testing Intelligently package related and complementary APIs into API product suites Writes non-technical API documentation articulating business value and benefits Articulates the business value of these APIs by devising use cases to describe how partners can use theAPIs to achieve their business goals Designs and develops REST APIs using API gateway products Configure cache, control quotas, mitigating the effects of spikes, creating concurrent rate limits, and perform other functions related to API traffic. Responsible forAPI Security, API Key Validation, Authentication, Authorization and Identity, Traffic Management, Token Management Responsible for API Mediation includingMessage transformation, parsing, and validation, as well as raise faults and alerts. Builds and maintains a healthy software development life cycle Builds Functional and Behavioral tests for APIs Experience in API Administration and user/developer management Designs and leads our approach to enterprise APIs, collaborating with other business and IT teams. Continuously improve enterprise APIs as a practice Benchmark processes – evaluate areas of opportunity, identify process gaps, and create plans to achieve increased performance, productivity and effectiveness in services provided. Maintains regular contact with other teams in IT to ensure appropriate partnering and input to create the most effective APIs. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Understanding of and ability to use at least one of these programming languages: Java, Javascript, Node.js Knowledge and experience in developing software using agile methodologies Experience implementing API Management products and helps evangelize their usage Understanding of API design principles and best practices Ability to provide technical leadership for API implementation projects Strong knowledge of API Security using OAuth 2.0, JWT, etc. Strong working knowledge of networking protocols HTTP, TCP/IP, SOAP, REST Solid understanding of TLS, certificates, keystore and truststore Strong grasp of Swagger, WSDL and similar tools for defining APIs Ability to generate creative and innovative solutions Ability to develop solutions to a variety of complex problems, and reference established precedents and policies Proven success in collaborating and driving decisions with multiple stakeholders, including team members across product, technology and design as well as business development Strong understanding of product and software development and the ability to work in an Agile environment Ability to work autonomously to successfully meet goals within expected timelines and with minimal supervision Strong communication skills including the capacity to influence multiple stakeholders even without direct authority Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment Broad technical aptitude and knowledge Excellent written, verbal, organizational and communication skillsEquipment / Tools / Technology: API gateway and/or product management platforms such as Google Apigee. Google platform productivity products (Chrome, Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Groups, Sites, etc.). Minimum Years of Experience:(Explain type of required or preferred experience)Six years of information technology experience to include: Two years prior supervisory or leadership experience.
