SummaryThe incumbent of this position Supervisory IT Specialist (SYSANALYSIS/INFOSEC) is located in the Cybersecurity and Data Protection Directorate within the Technology and Integration Office Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Electronic Health Record Modernization (OEHRM), within the Office of the Deputy Secretary of VA (DEPSECVA). The VA OEHRM is responsible for ensuring that VA successfully prepares for, deploys, and transitions to, a new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.ResponsibilitiesThe first 50 candidates who applied will be considered for referral to the selecting official. Additional candidates will be referred based on hiring needs. Major Duties: Develop capabilities to align with DHMSM PMO Cybersecurity in support of DoD/VA EHR to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools. Provides leadership, guidance and assistance to subordinates in solving problems of a policy or administrative nature, and supports staff in solving major technical problems. Coordinate with senior leadership and various other government agencies, and thirdparty service providers to ensure joint cybersecurity plans are compatible and interoperable with all DoD/VA EHRM support systems comply. Recommend and presents VA OEHRM positions as an expert on the cybersecurity management complexities of the DoD/VA EHR systems prioritization, resourcing and execution. Provides information to Management as requested concerning promotions, reassignment, recognition of outstanding performance, and personnel needs. GS-14 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: experience to provide cybersecurity project management and supervisor-level leadership; experience in understanding the substantive nature of cybersecurity programs to accurately assess performance; organize, present, discuss, and rapidly respond to complex cybersecurity requirements; utilize new cybersecurity developments and theories in accessing, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information to develop new products and services to meet the diversified information needs of senior level officials; assess emerging information technologies and theories for the purposes of recommending their application to current and future information needs; develop new and innovative methods and techniques to resolve highly complex information access and dissemination problems including the development of the latest information products and services to accommodate rapidly changing information; manage multiple, major diverse projects in various stages of development during the same timeframe. There is no educational substitution for the GS-14 level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
