Job Purpose: To plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated projects to ensure that goals and objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.Roles, Duties, & Responsibilities:

Reviews project proposals to determine budget and funding limitations, procedures, and time frame for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources throughout various phases of the project.

Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.

Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope authority.

Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.

Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required.

Prepares project reports for management, clients, and/or others.

Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve any problems.

May coordinate project activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.

Awards subcontractors and issues purchase orders.

May set up machines and equipment.

May manage sub-contractors and their workforce.

Reviews estimates with Estimator.

Conducts post-bid (in house) project review.

Arranges for all necessary permits; shop drawings, and submittals required by the specifications.

Conducts a plan and site review with Project Superintendent to identify potential conflicts and investigates their status.

Negotiates, executes, and initiates all change orders.

Prepares and maintains job costs on a weekly basis and reviews it with project personnel.

Monitors pay estimates and requests to ensure timely submittal.

Reviews and approves all invoices for payment.

Ensures compliance with all company policies in every phase of operation.

Monitors project closeout: final quantities, final change orders, and final releases from agreements.

Obtains letter of acceptance.

Conducts project performance evaluation or review with project and office personnel and provides written reports.

Adheres to all Hunter Contracting Co. safety policies and procedures. Communicates, advocates, and enforces all applicable safety policies and procedures with employees and subcontractor.

Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Work Qualifications:

10 years Heavy Civil Construction work experience.

Knowledge of leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Knowledge of organizational operating practices or procedures.

Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction projects.

Ability to look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects.

Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Knowledgeable in construction equipment and governmental requirements.

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Ability to follow oral and written directions, plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Must have the ability to work long hours and some weekends and a willingness to assume a high level of responsibility.

Possesses a valid Drivers License with a clean driving record.

Education & Work Experience Guidelines:

B.A. or B.S. Degree in Construction or Civil Engineering; AND,

Minimum ten (10) years’ construction experience; OR,

Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as determined by the hiring manager.
