Products include cyber-hardened laptop and server computers and networking components, integrated voice/data/routing subsystems, integrated Battle Management Systems and software, vetronics, vehicle-mounted systems supporting man-portable and combat vehicle applications, and fixed and mobile command post solutions.Job LocationHuntsville, ALPosition Summary DRS Land Electronics in Huntsville, AL is looking for a technician to join our vehicle integration team. The technician will support the integration and repair of mechanical and electrical systems on a variety of military vehicles. The majority of the integration work is on diesel engine based systems. Vehicles are located in a climate controlled vehicle storage and integration facility in Huntsville, AL. The work will require the ability to troubleshoot and repair vehicle electrical and mechanical systems. Applicants must be able to drive the vehicles which require a CDL, or the ability to obtain a CDL.Responsibilities include:

Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn an damaged parts.

Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.

Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems control linkages, clutches, and traction units.

Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in automotive technology (or equivalent) or High School diploma/GED with at least two years automotive/diesel mechanic experience

Possess a CDL, or the ability to obtain a CDL

Must be detail oriented, possess eagerness to learn, technical aptitude, and ability to work with development and integration teams

Computer literate

Strong professionalism, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal)

Ability to work individually and in a collaborative team environment

Ability to travel in order to support vehicle systems off site

Desired Skills and Experience:

Troubleshooting and repair of automotive and/or diesel engines

Ability to read and understand electrical wiring diagrams a plus

Experience with military ground vehicles a plus

Welding and machine shop experience a plus
