Staff Scientist - Casper, Cheyenne or Laramie, WY

Trihydro, a leading environmental and engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Staff Scientist to join our team in Wyoming. If you have a background in biology, soil science, environmental science, or a related field, and a passion for fieldwork, environmental compliance, and protecting natural resources, we encourage you to apply.

In this role, the Staff Scientist will conduct field surveys, stormwater inspections, and other environmental compliance monitoring. They will support a variety of projects involving groundwater, surface water, and soil investigations, and collecting baseline and post-restoration soil and vegetation data. Completing environmental compliance documentation and reporting is essential, along with the ability to work in diverse settings and varying field conditions to meet project requirements. The workload is driven by seasonal activities and can be largely field when there are active sites, and more office based other times. Occasional overnight travel may be expected; however, the incumbent can anticipate being home most weekends.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, soil science, environmental science, or a related field.

3-5 years of relevant experience in field surveys, environmental inspections, or compliance-related tasks.

Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, particularly related to the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.

Understanding of habitat restoration techniques, wetland delineations, and mitigation monitoring.

Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and data interpretation.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams), GPS mapping applications (e.g., ArcGIS Field Maps), and data management systems.

Ability to conduct fieldwork in challenging terrains and weather conditions for extended periods.

Clean driving record with experience driving in off-road conditions, using a four-wheel drive vehicle, and traveling during winter weather.

Effective communication skills for technical writing and interaction with clients, regulators, and team members.
