The Accountant Advanced position, with the PeopleSoft database, will utilize numerous sub-systems to standardize the accounting for functional areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, projects and cash management. SCO accounting staff must become familiar with the STAR subsystems, if they are not so already, so they can assist the agencies with their accounting, reporting and operational needs. This position will create draft policies and procedures for final approval by the State Controller. The Accountant Advanced position will also coordinate enterprise financial/accounting projects that streamline existing processes or generate additional earnings or cost savings. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.Qualifications:Minimum QualificationTo qualify for this position, you must have the academic preparation or training as described in any one of the following described below:Completed a four-year or advanced degree with a major in Accounting from an accredited College/University.

A Certified Public Accountant license.

Professional Experience or Education equivalent to a four-year or advanced degree with a major in Accounting from an accredited College/University.

In addition, qualified applicants will have experience in:Reconciling, analyzing, and preparing complex financial statements, reports, and schedules in accordance to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

A professional accounting or finance position (e.g. processing bank deposits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, or similar)

Working with an ERP accounting software system and subsystems (e.g. Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Management, Commitment Control, General Ledger, Project Costing, Travel Expense)
