You'll also be the face of your station’s weather operation, delivering forecasts, telling stories, and connecting with audiences on air. Experience : Forecasting and presenting weathercasts, including severe weather coverage - 7+ years, working knowledge of TV weather graphics systems
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal or ability to obtain within 18 months of employment
Technical Skills : Synoptic, tropical, and radar meteorology expertise
Skills : On-camera skills and the ability to work collaboratively within the newsroom
Abilities : Taking initiative, anticipating situations, and establishing priorities
Travel Ability : Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community
Schedule : Ability to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree
Management or leadership experience - 2+ years
Working knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software, and basic non-linear editing systems
May be required to lift up to five pounds
Working Conditions
Works inside a climate-controlled environment throughout the year but might be assigned to field duties on occasion
Works in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment
