The Feed Manager position will supervise a crew of 6-8 people. This is a full-time position (55 hrs/week – varies according to the season/weather). Must be able to speak and understand English; Spanish speaking is a bonus. A Wisconsin driver’s license is required.
Duties will include:
Maintaining a safe working environment and making sure all team members in the department are following safety protocols at all times.
Overseeing the maintenance of equipment, including the stationary mixers and all equipment used in the feed operation.
Maintain a clean Feed Center and supervise employees to be sure they are keeping up the facility, bunks and feed storage area.
Mixing and Premixing feed by following the Standard Operating Procedures.
Feed storage and bunker maintenance, including face, load, and transport the feed to the Feed Center as directed by the Feed Center Manager.
Test feed samples for moisture content on a daily basis.
Schedule and manage all incoming deliveries of commodities.
Maintain regular communication with the Chief Operations Officer, Nutritionist and other managers to keep them informed of any issues.
Work with team to make adjustments to the feed bunks as needed.
Manage the feed software to determine the proper mix of each load being prepared and that all equipment is communicating with the software properly.
Schedule all team members and fill in as needed.
Learn all of the positions of team members.
Skills required:
Ability to supervise, motivate and train team members.
Mechanically inclined.
Ability to follow written and spoken instructions.
Understanding of the importance of mixing the proper TMR for dairy cattle.
Willingness to learn and attend trainings associated with the position.
Ability to resolve conflict in a professional manner.
Ability to operate tractors, pay loaders and skid steer loaders in a safe manner.
Assist feed storage filling.
