14261BRDepartment Name:HSP Food-Nutrition Location:Meriter Hospital Job Description:The Cook position is responsible for large quantity preparation of all foods cooked and served for patients, personnel and catering. Exhibits knowledge of quality food standards, methods of food preparation, sanitation standards established by regulatory agencies, operation of food service equipment, materials needed and the ability to adjust recipe quantities to the appropriate size to meet production orders. Possesses technical knowledge for solving problems during the food production process. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of two-three years’ experience in large quantity food preparation (must include meats, entrees, soups, sauces), dependent upon amount of formal training.

ServSafe Certification within 6 months of hire.

Must be able to work under pressure and supervise production needs in rigid time frame.

Demonstrate ability to problem solve and to work well with others.

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.

Preferred Requirements:

Additional training, such a baking and/or advanced Chef's training courses.

Experience in a health care institution is preferred.
